On the drier side, don't miss Dr. Burklin-Wolf Riesling 2001 ($21.95, No. 991315). This wine, also from the Pfalz region, has an uncanny but appealing aroma of wine gums, those chewy candies from the variety store. On the palate, it's light-bodied with just a hint of residual sugar, exhibiting flavours of pear, citrus and tropical fruit. Try it with lightly prepared, flaky fish.
