| A slightly reductive garlic scented nose blows off after a few minutes in the glass to reveal plenty of black cherry fruit, smoky oak and saddle leather. This is full flavoured pinot with spicy creamy vanilla flavours streaked with strawberry and cherry fruit flavour. A delicious mid-palate stalls in the finish but that’s not unusual for young Blue Mountain pinot noir. Time in the bottle will smooth that out. |

| 2000 | Burrowing Owl | Pinot Noir | | 25 | | |
| website: This big, full flavoured wine displays the best of Pinot Noir characteristics - full body and rich flavours combined with smoothness and elegance. A deep, complex bouquet marries ripe berry aromas with toasty oak to produce nuances of cherry, raspberry, cola, mahogany, leather and chocolate which are echoed on the palate ornamenting the deep chocolate cherry flavours. Its rich intensity is made elegant by velvety tannins and smooth mouthfeel. An outstanding Pinot Noir. |
| Vancouver Sun Sep 18, 02: Good luck finding this. Smoky bacon fat and pepper highlight the nose, while dried cherry fruit marks the flavour. It's drier than usual, but it makes up for it in richness and alcohol. A good wine, but it's becoming increasingly irritating to find |

| Harvested over 23 brix. Aged 12 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. 2900 cases bottled March 2002. Dark color, concentrated flavors with hints of black tea, blueberry, and mint. Soft, approachable finish. |

| 2001 | Burrowing Owl | Cabernet Franc | 5 | 27 | 2 | |
| An incredibly complex bouquet features black cherry fruit complemented by hints of mahogany, chocolate, mint, honey, leather and tobacco. Big and smooth bodied with full blackberry fruit flavours ornamented by many of the same nuances as the bouquet together with cola and licorice. A truly beautiful, complex, mouthfilling Cabernet Franc. |
| 2001 | Burrowing Owl | Merlot | 5 | 25 | 1 | |
| Deep berry bouquet with caramel, coffee and chocolate highlights. Outgoing, vibrant blackberry flavour profile with jammy richness. Smooth and complex on the palate. A very varietal Merlot through a long flavourful finish. Well structured, combining heft as well as finesse and framed by the mellowest of tannins. |

| 2000 | MerryVale Vinyards Merryvale - Juliana Vineyards | Sauvignon Blanc | Fridge | 35 | 1 | |
| Our Sauvignon Blanc bottlings are meant to showcase delicate but complex varietal character, with just a hint of toasty French oak serving as a complement, not the focus, of the wine. To preserve that delicate character, malolactic fermentation was prevented and, while the wine is on its lees during its time in the barrels, those lees have not been stirred. This wine was blended from the lots most expressive of ripe yet lively Sauvignon Blanc, tempered with a little rich Semillon, all from Juliana Vineyards. |

| 2000 | Poplar Grove | Cab Merlot | 2 | 35 | 2 | |
| Toasty French oak on the nose with intense bouquet of chocolate, coffee and all-spice. Meaty mid-palate with sage and earth notes to compliment the blackberry and cherry fruit. Very extracted but European in style and texture with fruit and oak tannins providing considerable grip. The Merlot contributes fruit and finesse while the Cabernet Franc give the wine backbone and structure. It has a long warm finish. Released December 2003. About 235 cases made. |
| 2001 | Poplar Grove | Cabernet Franc | 10 | 29 | 1 | |
| Dense and opulant, the wine has currant and cherry pie aromas on the nose. The palate has ripe plum, cassis and blackberry flavours with leather and earthy spice. The toasty oak is round, smooth and fleshy. Cab Franc is typically a structured wine and as such there are substantial tannins and firm acidity on the finish. Bold perfumes, depth and length of flavour with balanced integration of fruit and oak mean that this wine will complement simple and complex meals. Cellaring potential is unlimited. If you can, try one now and then put the rest down for five years. |

| Bronze Oakanagon Festival. A rich, full flavoured wine, it has aromas of dark chocolate and dusky berry with a smooth yet subtle finish. The Stewart Family recommends trying the OVF Reserve with duck confit served on a bed of organic spring greens or filet mignon with a truffled mushroom ragout. |

| Seldom does the regular Vintage Port from Quinta do Noval score at exactly the same level as the legendary, tiny production Noval Nacional. But it did in 2000. I just couldn’t see much difference when I tasted the two blind. So it means a great opportunity to buy a terrific young Vintage Port at a relatively good price. The 2000 Noval shows fascinating aromas of crushed fruit, tar and wet earth that turns floral and aromatic. It’s full-bodied and medium-sweet, with chewy, velvety tannins and a long finish. Yet it grips your mouth with all the structure you expect in a young Port...96." Wine Spectator Weekly 2/03 |
