| Year | Wine | Variety | Location | Price | Num | Rating |
| 2002 | Akarua | Pinot Noir | | $39.95 | 8 | |
| This voluptuous wine was produced from an outstanding Central Otago season. Silky smooth, with rich aromas of black cherries, plums, chocolate, smoky bacon and mushrooms. The palate is dense and opulent, with a full tannin structure and length. |
| 2002 | Bald Hills | Pinot Noir | | 29:50 | 3 | |
| "Bald Hills Vineyard" has produced this classic Bannockburn Pinot Noir with its cherry / red plum fruit and savoury spice notes on the nose. It has the region's characteristic supple sensuous mouthfeel with powerful fruit sweetness. A wine made to age and should continue to develop complexity as the flavours open out over the next 2 years. The ripe tannins framing this wine should give it an aging potential of at least 7 years. |
| “ A great debut for this label, based on first-crop vines at Bannockburn, Central Otago. Full, youthful hue. Concentrated and vibrant, with warm, cherryish, spicy, nutty flavours and a firm backbone of tannin. Powerful yet graceful, with notable intensity and length.” Winestate Magazine |
| 2002 | Black Barn | Blend | | $15:88 | 10 | |
| A superb blend of Bordeaux varieties, this wine was fermented using traditional methods before being basket pressed and stored in French oak in our underground cellars. The wine displays lifted aromas of cherry and cassis overlaid with spicy oak. Fleshy front palate and ripe tannins give a wine that can be enjoyed now and will also cellar well. |
| 2000 | Bowen Estate | Shiraz | | AUD$27.50 | 12 | |
| The 2000 Bowen Estate reds are the best that we have seen for many years. Opaque crimson colour with deep mauve edges. Intense aroma of chocolate, plum and spice followed by a liquorice end note. The palate has monumental weight for a Coonawarra Shiraz with excellent depth and concentration of flavour. Flavours of spice, plum, liquorice, toasted oak and blackpepper. Totally mouthfilling - fine grained tannins followed by a very spicy aftertaste dominated by plum and blackpepper. |
| 2002 | Coldstream Hills | Pinot Noir | | AUD$18.70 | 6 | |
| Medium red-purple; a characteristic mix of plum and spice, still in its primary phase, the French oak subtle and well-integrated. The palate is intense and tight, with a long, lingering finish and excellent acidity. The spicy/savoury plum flavours are, like those of the bouquet, still in their infancy, and this wine will develop very well over the next 7-8 years. |
| 2000 | Matariki Quintology | Blend | | 29:95 | 4 | |
| A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Malbec. Dense and dark in its colour, there's a lovely concentration of ripe fruit with creamy French oak, cigars and just a touch of mint, it has a terrific tannin structure lifted by a seam of acidity, the acid in balance to the terrific structure of the wine. It's ripe and rich with sweet fruit balanced to the sweet leather, cigars and creamy oak that lingers. |
| 2000 | Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna | Shiraz | | AUD$16.95 | 12 | |
| Berries, spice, plums, mulberry and a myriad of fragrant aromas. Lovely rich fruits flood the palate accompanied by liquorice, coffee, spice, mint and a touch of vanilla. Delivers warm, persisting, very appealing fruit in a soft structure. Nicely together it is quite approachable now but will be good drinking to 2010. |
| 2000 | Rouge Homme | Cabernet | | AUD$12.65 | 6 | |
| Flooded with ripe blackcurrant/berry fruit aromas which flow through to the palate. Rich fruit, sweet oak nuances and ripe tannins all add to the appeal. |
| 2002 | Twin Islands | Pinot Noir | | $13.99 | 6 | |
| A real find! Plenty of sweet ripe fruit, clean and juicy with a lovely structure. The flavour builds through the palate leaving a medium length finish. At this price, everyone should have some! |
